Med spas straddle medicine and aesthetics — injectables, lasers, body contouring, IV therapy. The right one has real medical oversight; the wrong one is a liability.
What to look for
- Medical director listed on the website, licensed in your state.
- Injectors who are RNs, NPs, PAs, or physicians — not aestheticians.
- Uses FDA-cleared devices, with model numbers you can look up.
- Consultation before booking, not a template price list.
Questions to ask
- Who is the medical director and are they on-site?
- What are the credentials of the person doing my treatment?
- What device or product exactly are you using?
- What is the plan if I have a complication?
Red flags
- No medical director listed anywhere.
- Deep discounts for buying 5+ syringes upfront.
- Pushes IV drips as the fix for any complaint.
