What it is

Prometrium is a brand-name oral micronized bioidentical progesterone capsule, available in 100 mg and 200 mg.

Standard prescription pairs estradiol with 100 mg nightly (or 200 mg cyclically) for women with a uterus.

How it works

Progesterone opposes estrogen at the endometrium, preventing hyperplasia.

Has a mild GABA-ergic metabolite (allopregnanolone) which is why bedtime dosing often improves sleep.
