Peptide Therapy: how to choose a clinic

Peptide therapy uses short chains of amino acids (BPC-157, CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, GLP-1 analogs, and others) to target repair, metabolism, and longevity pathways. Because most peptides are prescription-only and often compounded, the clinic you choose matters as much as the molecule itself.

What to look for

  • US clinics should work with a 503A or 503B compounding pharmacy — ask for the pharmacy name.
  • A physician (MD/DO) or NP who actually reviews your labs before prescribing, not just an intake form.
  • Transparent pricing that includes the medication, provider visits, and shipping.
  • Clear cycling / duration protocol — not open-ended monthly refills by default.

Questions to ask

  • Which peptides do you prescribe most, and why those over alternatives for my goal?
  • What baseline labs do you require before starting, and how often do you re-test?
  • Which compounding pharmacy do you use, and are they 503A or 503B?
  • What is your protocol for tapering or cycling off?
  • Who do I contact if I have side effects after hours?

Red flags

  • Sells peptides without a prescription or a real clinical review.
  • Uses the words "research only" while shipping to consumers.
  • No named prescribing provider, or refuses to share pharmacy source.
  • Pushes 12-month prepaid packages before you have labs back.

Typical cost

Typical US pricing runs $150–$600/month depending on the peptide, dose, and whether provider visits are bundled. GLP-1 compounds are usually priced separately.

Frequently asked

Is peptide therapy legal in the US?

Prescription peptides dispensed by a licensed compounding pharmacy under a valid prescription are legal. Peptides sold as "research chemicals" for human use are not.

Do I need bloodwork first?

A responsible clinic will order baseline labs (CBC, CMP, lipids, hormones relevant to your goal) before prescribing and re-check periodically.

How fast will I feel results?

Repair peptides like BPC-157 can show effects in weeks; growth-hormone secretagogues and metabolic peptides typically need 8–12 weeks of consistent use.
