Growth Hormone Axis · Selective GH secretagogue (ghrelin agonist)
Ipamorelin
- Drug class
- Selective GH secretagogue (ghrelin agonist)
- Status
- Compounded (503A)

What Ipamorelin is studied for
- Growth-hormone axis support (off-label)
- Sleep quality and slow-wave sleep
- Body composition and recovery
Mechanism of action
Binds the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR, the ghrelin receptor) on pituitary somatotrophs. Selective signaling triggers GH release without activating the cortisol or prolactin pathways.
Frequently asked questions
Why combine ipamorelin with CJC-1295?
CJC raises GHRH-receptor stimulation (amplitude); ipamorelin triggers the pulse via the ghrelin receptor (frequency). The two together produce a larger, cleaner GH pulse than either alone.
Does ipamorelin raise cortisol?
No — that is its main advantage over GHRP-2 and GHRP-6. In trials, cortisol and prolactin remain at baseline.
How is it dosed?
Typical research dose is 100–300 mcg subcutaneously, 1–3x daily. Most protocols include a bedtime dose to align with the natural GH pulse.
