Our path to insurance coverage.

  1. Phase 1 — Now

Self-pay with HSA/FSA support. Serving patients across all 50 states. Building the clinical outcomes data that insurance companies require for credentialing.

  2. Phase 2 — Coming

NC Blue Cross Blue Shield credentialing. North Carolina first — our home state — where we have the deepest provider network and patient base.

  3. Phase 3 — Expanding

Additional commercial insurers in NC. Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare. Replicating in high-volume states: TX, FL, CA, GA, NY, IL.

  4. Phase 4 — Nationwide

Full multi-state insurance network with the major commercial carriers. Kindr menopause care covered wherever you are.

We don't have a specific date for each phase — but we're working toward them with urgency. The waitlist above helps us prioritize by insurer and state.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kindr accept insurance now?

Not yet. Kindr currently operates as a self-pay telehealth platform. We accept HSA and FSA cards, which function like insurance for tax purposes. We are actively working toward commercial insurance acceptance.

Will insurance cover compounded HRT?

This is the most important question. Most commercial insurance plans do not cover compounded medications — including compounded estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone. When Kindr accepts insurance, we will provide both compounded options (self-pay) and FDA-approved commercial HRT options (insurance-covered) so patients can choose the right path for them.

Does Medicare cover telehealth menopause care?

Medicare covers certain telehealth services and some FDA-approved hormone medications. It does not cover compounded medications. Medicare coverage for Kindr is part of our long-term roadmap. Join the waitlist above to be notified.

Does Medicaid cover menopause treatment?

Medicaid coverage for menopause care and HRT varies significantly by state. NC Medicaid Managed Care covers some hormone therapies. We are evaluating Medicaid pathways as part of our insurance expansion roadmap.

Why doesn't Kindr take insurance now?

Honest answer: insurance credentialing takes 90-180 days per insurer, requires significant administrative infrastructure, and the reimbursement rates for telehealth visits are often lower than our self-pay pricing. We built Kindr's self-pay model to be genuinely more affordable than the typical insurance + copay + deductible experience. For most patients, $79/month with medications included is less expensive than using insurance. But we understand insurance is important to many women — and we're coming.

Is there a way to get reimbursed through my insurance now?

Some PPO insurance plans allow out-of-network reimbursement for telehealth services. Kindr can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance for potential partial reimbursement. Contact support@kindr.health to request a superbill for your visits.

Already a Kindr patient? Request a superbill.

If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, you may be able to submit a superbill from Kindr for partial reimbursement. A superbill is an itemized receipt with the billing codes your insurance company needs to process a claim.

We cannot guarantee reimbursement — that depends entirely on your specific plan. But we can give you the documentation to try.

How to request

Email support@kindr.health with the subject line "Superbill Request" and your account name. We will send your itemized superbill within 3 business days.

Note: Compounded medications are typically not reimbursable through insurance regardless of out-of-network benefits. The provider visit component is most likely to qualify.
