Can you start HRT years after menopause?

Starting hormone therapy more than ten years after your final period or after age 60 is generally less favorable from a cardiovascular standpoint and is considered case-by-case. Low-dose vaginal estrogen, however, is safe and effective at any age for genitourinary symptoms (dryness, painful sex, recurrent UTIs) and does not carry the same risk profile as systemic therapy. A licensed clinician can weigh your symptom severity, personal medical history, and risk factors before recommending an approach.
