Questions
Where do these percentages come from?
STEP-1 (Wilding et al., NEJM 2021) reported mean 14.9% weight loss with semaglutide 2.4 mg at 68 weeks. SURMOUNT-1 (Jastreboff et al., NEJM 2022) reported 20.9% with tirzepatide 15 mg at 72 weeks.
Do GLP-1 medications work the same in menopause?
Trials were not stratified specifically by menopausal status, but subgroup analyses suggest broadly similar magnitude of weight loss in postmenopausal participants.
